Workplace Transformation

New Cabinet Offices, Whitehall London, UK

Size

2,800sqm

Brief

The Cabinet Office had embarked on a programme of transformation including its public image, the way they dealt with clients, the general public and in the way it went about its business in terms of the workplace.

Approach

As an Associate Director at HOK, my primary role was to collate the Workplace Brief for the New Cabinet Offices.

This involved dealing with ministerial aides and/or their deputies through interviews, workshops and questionnaires to get a better understanding of the Cabinet Office’s function, how departments operated, their culture and business requirements.

  • Establishing the vision and understanding the culture
  • Establishing headcounts and workforce demographics
  • Work process and adjacency analysis
  • Establishing spatial requirements, special areas, amenities, and facilities
  • Technology and security

Outcome

The Workplace brief was one of the corner stones of the Transformation Programme, which was successfully delivered and won an architectural award.
