Brief
To deliver a new high performance HQ building and workplace transformation to enhance employee performance productivity by introducing ‘New Ways of Working’.
Approach
As “Design Team Leader” at DEGW, my responsibility was to deliver a “one stop shop” design service for the construction of a new HQ building, a Reception Centre, linking new HQ to the existing Grade 2* Listed D90 building. The project was a Workplace Transformation, the new HQ being the catalyst to enhance employee performance/ productivity by introducing ‘New Ways of Working’
As leader of the single point of responsibility design team, my role was to deliver the project successfully whilst at the same time reduce design risk exposure of the team. This was achieved by having back-to-back contracts with our sub-consultants and regular review/design meetings workshops to thrash-out design issues and to achieve buy-in from members of the client and design teams and setting up of ‘mock ups’ to review design detail and performance.
Outcome
The HQ was delivered successfully by the team “on time and within budget” winning the BCO’s Best Regional Office Building Award.
