Agile Working

CBRE - Building Consultancy, City, London, UK

Size

535sqm

Brief

To ascertain if the current operational footprint of the department could sustain growth over a period of two years. As head of Workplace Consultancy at CBRE this was an opportunity to showcase the organisation’s and department’s credentials and move it towards an agile working environment.

Approach

In order to sign off the expenditure for the transformation of the workplace and move to agile working it had to be demonstrated to the board that the department could grow and maintain its current operational footprint.

Outcome

A space occupancy utilisation study was carried out, and filing and storage audits undertaken to understand use of space. Several workshops were held with department members to establish workplace guidelines, protocols and policies for agile working. I was able demonstrate that if agile working was adopted it could:

  • Maintain its operational footprint
  • Include additional work-settings and facilities to support the transformation
  • Reduce filing by 35%
  • Increase fee earning capability by circa £2.25m for a capital outlay of £150k

The success of the transformation not only resulted in CBRE adopting agile working and kickstarting the 360 programme across its global operations, but also assisting clients to transform their working environments as well.
